TIM BESSELL

Tim Bessell has a degree in art and architecture from San Diego State University.  He grew up in La Jolla Shores and was a professional shaper by age 15. In 1975 he moved to Hawaii and began shaping for the renowned Lightening Bolt factory alongside legendary surfer/shapers Gerry Lopez, Tom Eberly, Mike Parish, Bill Barnsfield and Bob Hurley. He later founded Bessell Surfboards that has produced over 48,000 boards as well as a clothing line. 

Tim is an accomplished painter, sculptor and furniture designer. He created fiberglass sculptures for the Ines Gallery in Tokyo, and has exhibited paintings and mixed media sculptures at the Installation Gallery in San Diego, the Vorpal Gallery in San Francisco, the Peninsula Museum in Monterey, and the Michael Gallery in New York City. In 2010 he partnered with David Saltman to create Nomad Mobili.
