David Saltman

David grew up in Southern California, where his grandfather ran Brown Saltman Furniture, which produced mid-century modern designs by John Keal, Paul Frankl and Paul Laszlo. His father was Vice Chancellor of UC San Diego and an early member of the San Onofre Surfing Association.

After graduating from UCLA Film School, David became the fifth employee of the E! Entertainment Network. When E! was sold to Time Warner, he exited to pursue a career in environmental activism. Saltman served as Executive Director of the Surfrider Foundation, growing the organization from 1,200 to 24,000 members and winning the largest Clean Water Act lawsuit in American history.

He served on the Presidential task force that created green purchasing guidelines. He was CMO of Flexform Technologies, enabling Ford, GM and Chrysler to produce stronger, lighter, and far more easily recycled automobile interiors.  He was CEO of Open Energy Corporation, which developed solar roofing tiles and photovoltaic glass. In 2009 he founded Malama Composites and, in 2010, founded Nomad Mobili.
